In 2016, with funding from MacArthur Foundation, the Centre commenced a two-year programme on “Democracy, Stability and Media Accountability Project”, dealing essentially with the dangers of Hate Speech in the polity. The necessity for this programme was rooted in Nigeria's experience during the 2015 elections where some media messages threatened national stability.
