Kwara State Public Service Reform

Kwara State Public Service Reform

Kwara state government engaged the service of SCDDD to propose a program of reform. The reform aims to strengthen and reposition the public service which serves as the machinery for the anticipated change. The reform targets public servants in the executive arm of government, which comprises political appointees and the civil servants. This decision is also derived from the massive replacement of public office holders by the election that produced the new government and the old order and norms that stifle change.

Other factors that necessitate the reform include issues that constraint efficiency, economic rationality, transparency and accountability as well as effective service delivery. The reform is also tailored to facilitate the current efforts of the KWSG in overcoming dwindling revenues of the state. It is also designed to boost the capacity of public servants to face modern challenges in service delivery especially with the emergence of technology and increasing social demands.
